Collision, North America’s fastest growing tech conference, came to Canada for the first time this year and it did not disappoint.
TimeSaved attended at the invitation of Innovation York, and was there alongside more than 25,000 attendees and 1,000 other startups to talk about how we’re aiming to revolutionize the way people find meaningful work using the latest in mobile tech. Other staffing companies like BlewCrew and Trusted Health, the mobile app that has been making some serious waves in healthcare staffing, were also in attendance.
There were many highlights of the conference: keynotes by celebrities like Joseph Gordon-Levitt who founded a collaborative tech community; the Planet: Tech stage that focused on tech’s ability and responsibility to address environmental issues; and the simple fact that over these four days of dialogue and discovery, the founders of early stage startups could engage with leaders of global tech titans…and everyone in between.
“Collision brings together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry.”
Collision coming to Toronto is proof that the tech scene in Canada is one with global exposure that will only continue to grow more impactful in the coming years. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau noted that “the Canadian advantage is in providing extraordinarily well educated, hard working, forward thinking, creative, ambitious Canadians to be part of the global economy”. He credited our technological progress and success in part to Canada’s focus on diversity, and the importance that every Canadian be able to “see a path for them in the technological, disrupted future we’re part of” should they wish to.
The conference is set to return to Canada in 2020.
